No reason to force it.

Two days later it was over.

Thursday morning, an email from TakeProfitTrader. All five accounts canceled. The reply was formal and final. No credits. No adjustment. Just the rule and the outcome.

What made it gut-wrenching wasn’t just the money. It was the timing. Each account was at $850 and climbing. The trading itself was clean. I’d done what you’re supposed to do by waiting out the noise on Monday, letting the model work Tuesday and Wednesday, keeping size where it needed to be. None of that mattered in the end because the thing that ended the accounts had nothing to do with any of it.

The copier fired a counter-position. The rule triggered. The accounts were gone.

That’s the part I can’t build around.

I know the market isn’t controllable. That’s the job. You learn to work inside that, to find edge within the uncertainty. But there’s a category of risk I hadn’t fully accounted for, the non-market kind. The kind that has nothing to do with my read on price, my execution, or my discipline. A split second in copier execution ends five accounts that were performing. That’s not a variable I can manage or even see coming.

I love structure. I love knowing which rules I’m playing by and being held accountable to them. But I need those rules to be mine or at minimum, visible and monitorable. Right now I’m building on land I don’t own, and this week proved what that actually costs.

I’m moving to my personal account.

Not as a backup plan. As the primary one. A fixed percentage of every bonus, tax refund, and windfall I receive goes directly into that account going forward, on top of whatever compounds from trading. The funded account path isn’t the goal anymore. Building the account I can’t get canceled is.

Next week, that deposit commitment to my personal account either happened or it didn’t. That’s the check.

The model worked this week. That part held.

Everything else was outside the perimeter.

Thanks for reading Funded Flow! New evaluations bought. The only goal this week was to pass them, or at least get close enough to matter. Monday delivered first. The model showed up on the ES but price wasn’t coming back to the entry. I pulled up the NQ and it was telling the same story, except there, price had already returned. I used that as confluence and got in on the ES. 30 points.

Tuesday came with its own kind of test.

The Asian session was moving hard. ES had run over 35 points, taking out the daily low that formed when New York closed out its PM session earlier in the day. My model set up perfectly after that sweep. I took the trade. Exited at the liquidity void created when the market reopened. 21 points.

The evaluation targets were hit. Week over by Tuesday. Good Friday without a single blown account to carry into the weekend.

The Monday trade was clean. The Tuesday trade worked too. But those are different things.

Taking the NQ as confluence to get an entry on the ES was the right read at the right moment. That’s the model working the way it’s supposed to. I hadn’t leaned on that cross-instrument read in a while, and it was good to see it land.

The Tuesday trade is the one I need to sit with.

I broke my session rule. I’ve been consistent with it, which made it easier to rationalize in the moment. My thinking was: the setup is too good to pass on. And underneath that was something I didn’t want to admit right away. I had this belief that when my model shows up this clearly, it can’t be wrong. That’s the part that concerns me. Not that I bent the rule once, but that I bent it because I convinced myself certainty was high enough to justify it.

It wasn’t discipline failing because the model didn’t show up. It was discipline failing because the model did show up and I decided that changed the rules.

That’s harder to fix. And it’s already happened once too many times.

Going into my first funded week, the behavioral KPIs are the priority. All five get checked daily, not just the one I broke this week.

But I want to be specific about which KPI carries the most risk right now, and it’s not the session rule. It’s contract size. MES only. No exceptions, no situational logic, no account where ES briefly makes sense. The session rule failure this week was costly in terms of what it revealed. A contract size failure on a funded account is the kind of thing that ends the run before it starts.

The check next week is simple: did every single trade this week touch only MES?

That’s the one.

The $100 That Cost Everything

By Tuesday I was at $1,200 across all five accounts rebuilding from scratch. The Trump-Iran news hit around 7am Monday, ES spiked over 200 points in five minutes, and I was positioned right. $1,200 became $1,400 by the middle of the week. I should have closed the laptop and gone to bed.

Instead, at 6pm Wednesday, when the market reopened after close, I went back in.

The target was $1,500 per account. One hundred dollars more per account. That was the number I decided was worth staying up for.

The first couple of trades didn’t go the right way. Then the spiral started. I stayed at the screen from 6pm EST trying to claw it back, adjusting, re-entering, and somewhere in there I switched from 2MES to 1ES because I wanted to finish it faster and get to bed. That switch made everything worse. By 5am Thursday morning all five accounts were blown.

I took the day off work. Headache, no sleep, twelve hours of staring at a screen with nothing to show for it except five blown accounts and a restock order for five new evaluation accounts.

Friday I bought the new evaluations and started again, back to the rules.

Two of my five Behavioral KPIs got broken that night. Trading Time and Contract Size.

What’s strange is that I don’t have a clean explanation for why. I could say I needed the money but that’s not true. There’s no hidden pressure I can point to. I knew the rules. I broke them anyway and kept going deeper into a hole I dug voluntarily.

The contract size shift is what finished me. If I had stayed on 2MES I would still have the accounts, probably with a real drawdown but intact. Switching to 1ES in the middle of a spiral, at around 2am, because I wanted to move faster and go to bed, that’s not a trade decision. That’s desperation logic.

I’ve broken the contract size rule three times in the past month. Three times sounds like a small number until you realize once is enough to blow everything, which is exactly what happened.

The KPI system is doing its job in one sense. I can see the pattern. I can track when the rule breaks and look at it clearly afterward. But the contract size rule as it was written had a flaw.

It said: stick to your pre-defined contract size.

That’s not specific enough. Pre-defined can shift under pressure, apparently. It shifted in the early hours of Thursday morning.

So the rule is changing. Contract size is now MES. Not “pre-defined.” Not “appropriate for conditions.” MES. That’s the only answer on the KPI going forward. Yes or No.

Next week’s edition will show whether that held.

The Trailing Stop I Wasn't Ready For

Friday Liquidity areas properly mapped, model showing up, 30 points sitting right there.

I didn’t take it

Not because the setup was wrong. Not because the model failed. I froze because I was staring at a rule I hadn’t actually thought through yet, and when it finally hit me, I locked up.

The week had started with a different kind of mistake. Monday came and I hadn’t checked my copier, which meant only one trade caught my model when it should have caught five. That gap in execution triggered the urge to force the other accounts to catch up, and I felt a mini spiral starting. The EOD saved me. By end of day I had caught up, made more than expected, and something else became clear in the process: the ES size is too much for me right now. ES only comes back when my risk allows for it, meaning 2 to 3% room. Until then, MES.

The rest of the week was cleaner. By Thursday I had passed all five TPT evaluation accounts and was sitting at an 85% KPI score against my 80% minimum target.

Then came Friday. Day one of the funded accounts.

The evaluation accounts ran on EOD rules. That structure fit my model perfectly. Place the trade, define the stop once, hold for 20 or 30 points. No second-guessing mid-trade because the rules didn’t ask for it. My personal account worked the same way, which is a big part of why I grew it as fast as I did.

Funded accounts are a different kettle of fish. They come with trailing drawdowns.

The math changes completely. On EOD, if price moves 5 points against me, I’m down 5 points. With the trailing stop, if price runs 5 points in my favor and then retraces back to entry and hits my stop, I’m down 10. The trailing stop doesn’t just change the rule, it changes what has to be true for a trade to work.

I hadn’t sat with that in a while before Friday. And when I finally did, mid-session, I froze instead of adapting.

So I chased. Jumped in after the move and started hunting 5 points here, 7 points there, using 2 MES. Made $250 per account. The trade my model had presented at the open was worth 30 points. $300 per account. I left money on the table by not taking the trade I actually had conviction in, and made less by taking trades I was scrambling for.

The trailing stop didn’t create a new problem. It surfaced one that was already there.

I still weight being wrong more heavily than I weight letting probability play out. With the EOD rules, that tendency had nowhere to show up, the structure handled it for me. The trailing stop removed that buffer and the hesitation came right back.

What does look like real movement: I didn’t touch size. Even with more trades than usual and the pressure of day one on funded accounts, I stayed at 2 MES. That held.

Two things are changing.

First, the targets. My model gives me a full available target and I’ve been treating that as the default. With the trailing stop in play, shooting for the full target is a liability. Starting next week, I’m going short on targets, defined levels, not the maximum the model provides. I’ll specify those levels in next week’s entry so there’s something concrete to check.

Second, the KPIs have to anchor me when I’m vulnerable. I finished Thursday at 85%. Friday dropped me to 76% for the week because I went 2 for 5 on the day. The 80% minimum isn’t a goal for good weeks. It’s a floor that should hold the bad ones. Next edition, I’ll report the exact weekly KPI score alongside whatever else happened.

The accounts are funded. That part worked.

Now I have to actually learn how to trade them.

The Micros Were Doing Something Else headline.

But the week wasn’t about the number.

Pre-market prep was locked in every day before 8:30am EST. Levels were identified, the model had room to form, and in some cases I waited so long for confirmation that I missed the initial entry.

Thursday was the outlier.

Choppy the whole session. Nothing clean to work with.

The personal account grew roughly 40% on the week, trading no more than 2 MES contracts at a time. That freed up $450, which went straight into funding five prop accounts.

By Friday, those accounts were live. Each running 1 ES contract through a copier, all tied to the same model.

Thirty points per account. Halfway to passing.

The decision was also made to park the personal account until the five prop accounts are cleared. Once they are, MES goes back to being the lead, the personal account becomes the copier source, and the structure scales from there.

Earlier in the week, I chased an entry.

Price moved, I followed it, and I spent the next stretch of the trade in drawdown. I moved the stop wider to survive it. The trade eventually hit target, but it was a bad process that happened to produce a good result.

I documented it at the time.

Friday presented the same setup. Anticipated a reversal based on the model, saw the first entry late, and didn't chase. I waited.

The re-entry came, the risk was manageable for a Mini contract, and I took it.

Thirty points.

The MES dollar amounts are small enough that the trade result doesn't distract from the trade quality. I could see the mistake clearly, I documented it, and by Friday it had already translated into better behavior.

When the same moment showed up on Friday with significantly more money attached to it, the behavior was already in place.

What’s underneath the impatience is pretty clear to me now. There’s a pull to move faster toward specific personal goals outside of trading. That pressure doesn’t disappear just because I’m aware of it, but MES has been forcing me to slow down in a way that larger contracts hadn’t.

The model is the model at any size. Friday was proof that the discipline carries.

Next week is about the behavioral KPIs. The target is 80% or better. Each of the five scores 1 point:

Trading Session — Did I stick to my session?

Contract Size — Did I hold to the pre-defined size?

Stop Loss — Did I leave it where I placed it?

Trading Model — Did I trade my model?

Trade Limit — Did I stay at 3 trades or fewer?

Five points available. Four is the floor.

The Micros have made it easier to check each box. The Minis are a different weight class.

We’ll see.

Next edition, I’ll report the score.

Five Prop Accounts Gone Before the y2="14"></line>

This week started badly.

Not because the market was difficult, but because I rushed something that did not need to be rushed.

By the time the market officially opened, all five of my prop accounts were already gone.

I had overtraded and oversized before the session even began. The problem was not the market. The problem was that I was in a hurry to pass the evaluations and get to the funded stage as quickly as possible. That urgency made me abandon common sense.

The irony is that the market still had a full trading day ahead of it.

And I was already done.

Once those accounts were gone, I was left with only my personal trading account.

It had $188 in it.

Instead of rushing to buy new prop accounts, I decided to just trade what I had. I used micros and never traded more than 2 MES contracts on the same day.

That alone changed the entire experience.

I was not trying to force anything. I was not thinking about payouts. I was not trying to speed through an evaluation. I was simply trading.

The account started to grow.

First it went from $188 to around $500. Then by the end of the week it had reached $1,053.

The interesting part is that nothing dramatic changed in the market itself. What changed was the pressure I was trading under.

Because the size was small and the risk was minimal, I stayed in trades longer. I was not rushing to grab quick points or forcing entries. I could actually let trades develop.

For most of the week I stayed disciplined with the same approach. Just 2 MES. No rushing.

Two moments stood out.

The first was blowing the prop accounts before the market even began.

There was still an entire trading day ahead of me. It was only day two of the required five trading days for the evaluation. There was absolutely no reason to force anything that early.

Yet I did.

That moment made it very clear that the biggest risk in my trading right now is behavioral, not analytical.

The second moment happened on Thursday.

I took a trade that ended up running for 23 points on MES.

For the first time in a long time, I approached the trade properly. I analyzed the market, anticipated what was likely to happen, and waited for the setup to actually form.

Then I entered.

The entry itself was not perfect. But it was my A+ setup, and that was what mattered. I had a proper stop loss in place and I genuinely accepted the possibility of being wrong.

If price hit the stop, I was fine with it. If it reached the target, that was fine too.

That trade worked.

But what stood out was not the profit. It was the process behind it.

This week made something very obvious.

I am capable of trading well. But I also have behavioral issues that can sabotage the entire process if I let them.

The interesting part is that the smaller dollar amounts helped me do the right things naturally. Without the pressure of a payout or evaluation, my brain shifted toward simply executing properly.

I also realized that reducing size gives me room to work on the things that actually matter.

It reminds me of when I first learned how to drive.

At the beginning, everything felt overwhelming. You are watching the rear mirror, the side mirrors, the car in front of you, the road signs, and remembering to signal before changing lanes. Trying to do all of that while driving fast is almost impossible.

So you slow down.

That slower speed gives you space to process everything. Over time those actions become automatic.

Trading feels similar right now.

Slowing down the size allows me to actually focus on execution instead of reacting to pressure.

For now, that means sticking with MES.

Even when prop firms come back into the picture, the principle will be the same. Reduce the monetary pressure so the behavior can improve.

Alongside that, I am building a Behavioral KPI tracker.

Each day I will track specific behaviors that I believe are sabotaging my trading. The process will be simple and mechanical. Every item is either Yes or No.

No interpretation.

The goal is straightforward.

Five out of five every day. Every week. Every month.

This week was a strange combination of failure and clarity.

Blowing five accounts before the market opened is not something I am proud of. But it forced me to look directly at the behavioral side of my trading.

At the same time, a small personal account traded with patience and controlled size quietly doubled during the week.

Same trader. Same market.

Completely different outcomes.

The Cost of Forcing it

This week was a reminder that discipline week, it was not.

I overtraded. I oversized. I spiraled. To be quite frank, it was a complete mess.

Two of the days on ES were extremely choppy. In hindsight, it is obvious. At the time, I was trying to force trades I could not clearly see. The clarity only showed up after the session ended, when I zoomed out and looked at the day objectively. During the session, I was in it. Forcing it.

Friday was the worst of it.

The market was choppy. I should not have been trading. Instead, I tried to hit the 50 percent max daily target. I forced trades. I increased size. I blew several accounts. I spent almost $2,500 on resets that day alone. Earlier in the week, I had already done another reset worth $900.

There was no control. No real risk management. Just urgency.

The urgency came from wanting to pass the evaluation as quickly as possible so I could get to funded accounts. Knowing I had disposable income to pay for resets made it worse. There was no friction. I could just reset and try again. So I did. Over and over.

What stands out most is not even the money.

It is that I kept resetting without zooming out. I never stopped to really look at what the market was doing. I never paused long enough to say, this is not a day to be involved.

Instead, I kept pushing.

Ironically, I eventually got my five TPT accounts to $1,346 per account that day. On paper, it looks like I salvaged something. It almost feels like I won the war.

But at what cost.

Financially, I burned through capital that could have gone toward my personal trading account. Emotionally, I ruined my weekend. I was frustrated. Drained. Questioning myself.

The deeper question I kept asking was simple.

Why don’t I have the self control to stop?

If I am being honest, it is because I am rushing. I could not let the week end without achieving my weekly goal. Earlier in the week, I was on track to pass the eval. Then I failed and bought new accounts. My mind immediately shifted to the next best thing for the week, which was hitting the daily 50 percent max on Friday.

It became about getting something before the week closed.

That mindset made me try to bend the market to my will. The market was clearly saying something else. I ignored it. I wanted my way.

That is perfectionism in disguise. Not clean execution. Not discipline. Just trying to control the outcome.

I got the number in the end. The accounts showed $1,346 each. But the path to get there was sloppy and expensive. It is not sustainable.

Trying to fix everything at once will not work for me. I have done that before. I add five new rules, track them for three days, and then break all of them under pressure.

So I am simplifying.

One rule for the coming week.

No more than two trades per day.

I do not care if they are all losses. I do not care if they are all wins. I do not care if the third setup looks perfect. Two trades. That is it.

This is rule number one. Nothing else changes this week.

If I cannot control the number of times I click the button, nothing else matters. Not model refinement. Not target size. Not passing evaluations.

Two trades.

I will build from there next week.

This week exposed something. Not a flaw in the strategy. Not a flaw in the market.

A flaw in my execution.

The only way forward is to address it directly. One rule at a time.

I’ve Been Treating Trading Like a Hustle. but to reassess whether this is truly my ONE thing. And if the answer is yes, then something has to change. Not slightly. Drastically.

For the past few years, I’ve been trading, but not operating like a trader.

I’ve been treating it like a hustle.

Something I do, not something I run.

That showed up in two ways more than anything else: overtrading and lack of structure.

Overtrading wasn’t just about taking too many setups. It was chasing. Forcing. Trying to make something happen instead of waiting for it to be there.

And the lack of structure?
